Welcome to the Canadian Avalanche Association’s Avalanche Search and Rescue Advanced Skills (AvSAR) course and Practical Skills Assessment (PSA).
The AvSAR course is a four-day course intended for industry professionals and advanced search and rescue volunteers seeking hands-on technical avalanche rescue techniques and strategies.
Best practices in avalanche rescue are delivered by current practitioners and materials are updated regularly with input from industry, manufacturers, and instructors.
The AvSAR course and assessment are full and intense. What you get out of the course is directly proportional to the time you spend on your pre-course work.
Below you will find pertinent information for your course and the assessment. Take the time to read it carefully.
Besides the mailed student resource package this will be the only written correspondence from the CAA regarding your course. Please contact the CAA directly (250-837-2435) if you have any questions.
We wish you well on your travels this winter and success during your course.
Sincerely,
Andrea Lustenberger
Industry Training Program Manager
