Build the best product, cause no unnecessary harm, use business to inspire and implement solutions to the environmental crisis. Patagonia grew out of a small company that made tools for climbers. Alpinism remains at the heart of a worldwide business that still makes clothes for climbing – as well as for skiing, snowboarding, surfing, fly fishing, paddling and trail running. The approach we take towards product design demonstrates a bias for simplicity and utility.
RECCO® advanced rescue technology makes outdoor enthusiasts searchable to rescuers. It is utilized by more than 900 rescue organizations worldwide to facilitate the rapid location of burials and people lost in the outdoors. The two-part system consists of a detector used by organized rescue groups and reflectors that are integrated into apparel, helmets, protection gear or boots. Together they enable directional pinpointing of a person’s precise location using harmonic radar but are not a substitute for a transceiver. Complementary in function, the system is an additional tool that does not interfere with avalanche dogs, transceiver searches or probe lines.
