At the 2025 AGM members voted in favour of a weighted voting system.  

As part of the recent membership structure updates, voting rights have been expanded to include Avalanche Educators. This change recognizes the important and growing role educators play within the avalanche community and ensures their voice is represented in the governance of the Association. 

To maintain balanced representation, a weighted voting system has been introduced: 

• Basic and Advanced Avalanche Educators – 1 vote
• Avalanche Practitioners and Avalanche Professionals – 2 votes 

This approach provides Avalanche Educators with meaningful participation in key decisions, while ensuring that Avalanche Practitioners and Avalanche Professionals continue to direct the overall direction of the Association, reflecting their broader scope of professional responsibility and engagement in industry operations. 

These changes align with the Association’s goal of fostering inclusivity and representation across all membership categories while maintaining strong, experienced leadership within the profession.
