Annual General Meeting,
Special Resolution Vote,
and Director Elections

In accordance with the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act, and the bylaws of the Canadian Avalanche Association, notice is hereby given of the upcoming meeting:

Special Resolution Vote

The board of directors recommends bylaw changes to be voted on at the AGM. These changes enable competency-based membership applications and address other matters. In support of the recommendation, members are provided with the following:To pass these bylaw changes, members will be asked to vote at the AGM on the following:

Special Resolution:
Whereas the Board of Directors of the Canadian Avalanche Association recommends the approval of certain bylaw amendments;

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the proposed amendments to the bylaws, as provided to the members with the notice of this meeting, are hereby approved with an effective date of June 15, 2020.

Director Elections

Two director positions are up for election at the AGM:
  • Scott Garvin is stepping down after six years of service;
  • The director position held by active member Matt Macdonald is up for routine election (Matt intends to stand as an incumbent).
Active and professional members wishing to stand for election are encouraged to review the 2020 board elections page and contact executive director Joe Obad so candidate information can be submitted to the membership in advance of the May 14 AGM.

Additional CAA business to be addressed at the 2020 AGM:

  • Discussion of CAA finances and review of the 2019 Financial Statements.
  • Appointment of the public accountant.
  • New business: members wishing to bring forward new business are asked to submit new business to the executive director by the end of the day on May 1.
