Meteorology
and its impact on the snowpack constitute a major ingredient in
avalanche awareness as well as outdoor safety. At the same time, most
outdoor enthusiasts and young professionals have limited confidence in
their weather assessment skills. This is mostly due to a lack of
knowledge and tools. For this reason, the CAA has developed the
Introduction to Weather and Advanced Weather courses aimed at providing a
foundation for understanding weather concepts and terminology followed
by the application of weather forecasting tools and resources to help
you predict snow and avalanche conditions.
If you:
- Are interested in how to understand greater detail in weather events and their connection to the snowpack;
- Would like to know more about the current weather situation before you go outdoors;
- Would like to be able to look at a weather map and have a better idea of how this relates to avalanche hazard or ski quality;
Then, consider registering for one of the CAA's Weather Skills
courses. Click on either the Introduction to Weather or Advanced Weather
link in the left sidebar.
