The CAA Avalanche Operations Level 3 Program is intended for avalanche workers employed in forecasting, risk management, and/or planning positions.
In order to apply into the program, candidates must meet the following prerequisites:
Required:
- Avalanche Operations Level 2 certificate (or equivalent training/experience)
- Introduction to Weather (or equivalent training/experience)
- Minimum of three seasons of employment/experience in avalanche work after completion of the Avalanche Operations Level 2 course. For non-Level 2 graduates, five seasons of employment/experience is required at a minimum prior to the Level 3 application. A season consists of a minimum of 50 days.
- Minimum of two seasons as an avalanche technician working under the supervision of an avalanche forecaster.
Recommended:
- Introduction to Avalanche Mapping certificate or equivalent
- Advanced Weather certificate or equivalent
