Dear CAA Avalanche Incident Management participants,

Welcome to the Canadian Avalanche Association’s Avalanche Incident Management course.  

This two-day, classroom-based course is designed for avalanche professionals moving into a program management position responsible for overseeing operational avalanche responses (e.g. Operations manager at a mechanized ski operation, Lead Forecaster at a ski resort). This course is also intended for Search and Rescue Managers in command of an Avalanche Search and Rescue.

Pre-course preparation checklist

  • Check this page again 2 weeks prior to course start date.
  • Please refer to your online registration confirmation email for a view-only link to the student manual. You will receive a hard copy of the manual at the start of the course.
  • Familiarize yourself with the manual contents prior to the course start
  • Bring a copy of your Avalanche Rescue Plan (if applicable) to class

Equipment List

You will need a copy of your Avalanche Rescue Plan (if applicable), as well as a pen and paper for taking notes.

Transportation

Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from the course location. For those wishing to carpool a list of student emails is sent out a few weeks prior to the course start date for that purpose.
