IAC Updates

Update November 2016

There are three main changes to InfoEx as follows:

1. Stability in InfoEx - click here for full information

2. Terrain Management - click here for full information

3. Photo Overlay drawing functionality now available. Record details of avalanche observations on photos, with custom viewing options available:
Step 1) Add photos to Ski Runs and/or Avalanche Paths in your location catalogue - help here.

Step 2) Draw on your photo when submitting an Avalanche Observation - see Special functionality.

Step 3) View submitted overlays in the Photo Overlay Viewer (in the Extensions menu).

Note: Photos from outside your InfoEx location catalogue can still be attached to avalanche observations in the usual way via the Attachments section.

The Standard Today and Yesterday reports have been updated to reflect the changes to Stability and Terrain. If you have custom reports set-up you will need to update them to add the new Terrain Management fields and remove Stability. Help (videos and wiki pages) are here.

Update December 2015

This is a message from the InfoEx Advisory Group regarding changes to some aspects of InfoEx. Release for changes is Friday 11 December.

1.      Hazard ratings will change. The colours will remain the same but ratings will change to a numerical system. Hazard level 1 (green) is the lowest and hazard rating 5 (black) is highest. A help button will display the scale, which includes technical guidance for Likelihood of Triggering and Size/Distribution.

2.      Confidence ratings will change from Poor/Fair/Good to Low/Moderate/High. A help button will be added that provides guidance for the definitions of these terms.

Please expect the following changes to be implemented by next season:

1.      Stability ratings will be removed from InfoEx.

2.      The terrain section will be revised to include both a comment field and a set of menu options (e.g. aspect, etc.) to make for quicker and more standardized reporting.

All these changes were discussed and approved at the InfoEx subscribers meeting held in Penticton on May 6th, 2015. The documents below provide further information, guidance  and details.
