<title>Avalanche Search &amp; Rescue Advanced Skills and the Practical Skills Assessment</title>

<description><![CDATA[Based on student and instructor feedback, the AvSAR Advanced Skills (AvSAR) course and Practical Skills Assessment have been combined and will now be offered as a four-day course. As a result, students will only need to register for the AvSAR course, where they will be assessed on both AvSAR theory and technical skills. <a href="https://www.avalancheassociation.ca/general/custom.asp?page=AvSAR" target="_blank">Click here</a> to learn more.<br />

For those students who have not yet completed the Practical Skills Assessment portion of their AvSAR training, additional assessment days have been tacked on to specific AvSAR courses throughout the 2019-20 season. As of Summer 2019, those wishing to take an Avalanche Operations Level 1 course will be required to complete an online prerequisite called <b>Introduction to Avalanche Operations</b>.</span></p>

Check back in September 2018 for full information.</span></div>

<div style="color: #212121;"><span><span style="color: #212121;">Future Level 2 applicants please note that all Level 2 prerequisite courses</span> (<a href="https://www.avalancheassociation.ca/page/Intro_to_Weather?" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Introduction to Weather</a>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.avalancheassociation.ca/page/AvSAR?" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Avalanche Search and Rescue Advanced Skills Theory, and Avalanche Search and Rescue Practical Skills Assessment</a>) must be&nbsp;<b>COMPLETED</b>&nbsp;prior to applying for the Level 2 program. This means that&nbsp;<span style="color: #212121;">if you intend to apply for the Level 2 program for the 2019-20 winter season, you will need to complete prerequisite courses by April 2019.</span></span></div>
